The Never-Resting John Deere

If you search for a tractor to make an addition to your stock – John Deere should always be your first option. John Deere products are always perceived as trustworthy and reliable, not to mention their effectiveness and productivity. No wonder that “nothing runs like a Deere” has become a coined phrase not only in the world of farming, but also in everyday life and pop culture.

Deere & Company was established in 1837 by John Deere – a young blacksmith from Vermont. It all started with a simple steel plough he invented to make the work on a field more efficient. The instant success of this invention triggered the high-speed growth of the company, which soon started developing other products, like for example Gilpin Sulky Plow in 1871 that for the first time allowed the farmer to be seated while working on a farm – this invention is considered as the greatest success of the company in the 19th century. The first tractor produced under the company’s name entered the market in 1923 and was in production for nearly 30 years, which only proves how big a success it was.

John Deere never stops developing. It has been almost a century since their first tractor and so far John Deere can really boast about a spectacular range of products in its offer. So far there are approximately 451 various models of agricultural tractors John Deere put on the market, plus 38 backhoe-loaders, 8 Waterloo Boy machines, 31 industrial and 38 Lanz tractors. That is seriously a lot to choose from. And it seems John Deere does not plan to rest on its laurels, as almost every year a new piece of inventory is released.

John Deere 4520 – the one then, the one now

John Deere machines have come a long way since the first steel plow invented by the founder of the company who gave his name to this spectacular mark. It did not take much time for the company to become one of the most successful manufacturers of machinery all over the world. And it is no exaggeration to say that Deere produces legends.
Let’s take a look for example at John Deere 4520. It is not the only case where two machines go by the same name. The first model of 4520, a farm/agricultural tractor was produced from 1969 to 1970 and was a huge success back then. Of course, reality changes and many of then-innovations are simply outdated nowadays. The new version of Compact Utility Tractor John Deere 4520 entered the market in 2005 and its popularity has been growing rapidly ever since. It is definitely not a later version of 1969 model – it’s a completely new machine that poses absolutely no such problems as the previous one. New John Deere 4520 is strong, durable and reliable and for sure worth considering when we’re looking for a new addition to our farm.

John Deere tractors

John Deere is one of the largest corporations manufacturing agricultural machinery, construction and forestry equipment. It is also a leading supplier of drivetrains such as gearboxes, transmissions and axles used in heavy equipment, and diesel engines. John Deere manufactures a wide range of products, which in many cases come in several models. In all of these fields John Deere either is or has a great chance of becoming a leading manufacturer due to a great confidence the users place in the company.

There is no field or particular machine that John Deere specializes in, but for sure the company is usually associated with tractors. Everybody has seen them – yellow-green machines working hard on the farm. Let’s face it, the brand has even entered popculture – there’s a computer game “John Deere Drive Green”. The list of models of John Deere tractors is almost endless, starting from lawn tractors, utility tractors, residential tractors – we can go on and on.

John Deere tractors have proven to be almost irreplaceable when it comes to any agricultural work to be done. And with a huge variety of models and products it is sure that everybody will be able to find a machine perfect for his needs.

John Deere 9630: powerful and reliable

Nowadays, John Deere 9630 agricultural tractor is one of the most powerful heavy-duty machines there were available on the global market upon its release in 2007. The whole series was produced between 2007 – 2011. The models that followed belong to the John Deere 9560R series.
John Deere 9630, a four – wheel drive tractor is a true monster, powered by John Deere 13.5L 6-cyl, turbocharged aftercooled  diesel engine featuring 530 hp, with the large wheels featuring all -terrain rubber tracks or eight equally – sized tires. The tracked model is called the 9630T and is quite different from the standard John Deere 9630 tractor. First and foremost: it is not articulated. The design slightly varies as well.
Manufactured in Waterloo, Iowa, USA, the standard  John Deere 9630 tractor comes equipped with a 530, 6-cyl diesel engine, tested at 427 drawbar. It is the articulated tractor, weighing over 25 tons. Deere& Company, more often referred to simply as John Deere, is the leading producer of agricultural machinery in the world.  The company’s slogan “Nothing Runs Like a Deere” is a deliberate play on words, basing on the similarities between Deere, which is the surname of the company’s founder,  and deer, the animal. John Deere products can also be identified easily by the standard combination of distinct shade of green and yellow, used to paint the machines.

Deere & Company On Its Way to Expand Manufacturing Capacity for Hydraulic Cylinders

According to the latest news coming from Deere & Company, they are going to invest $47 million to expand manufacturing capacity in their Moline, Illinois factory, where the company produces a wide range of the hydraulic cylinders used mainly in agriculture, construction and forestry around the world.
Deere continues the strategy aimed at the global growth and requires some investments in manufacturing operations.  Fortunately, market demand for John Deere products has remained high and the planned improvements in manufacturing hydraulic cylinders will be launched in order to meet that growing demand.
The investment is supposed to result in crucial upgrades in machining tools at the cylinder operations, however they won’t  require any changes to the physical design. Also, no jobs will be added as a result of the investment itself.

John Deere Power Systems Putting Forth The Naming Convention

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) has recently announced both the naming convention and the power ratings for the company’s Final Tier 4/Stage IV mobile off-highway diesel engine line-up.
Referring to previous tier terminology, John Deere Final Tier 4/Stage IV engine names will commence with the PowerTech™ brand and then add a three - letter suffix in order to specify the engine’s technology package. In case of Final Tier 4/Stage IV engine, the three letters are supposed to identify the mechanism’s technology platform, the turbocharger and aftertreatment. The exemplary name of John Deere Final Tier4/Stage IV engine would be PowerTech PSS 6.8L.

All John Deere Final Tier 4/Stage IV engines with power ratings 56 kW (75hp) and these have been designated “P” which indicates the Tier 3/Stage III A Power Plus technology platform, featuring 4-valve cylinder heads, full – authority electronic controls, cooled exhaust gas recirculation and air-to-air aftercooling. These engines utilize a variable geometry turbocharger, series turbochargers or a waste turbocharger ( designated “V”, “S” and “W” respectively). The afterteatment technology for engines 56 kW (75 hp) involves the exhaust filter and selective catalytic reduction, which gives the combination designated “S”.

John Deere Implements the Harvest Identification

In order to help cotton growers capture, store and retrieve information about their crop for use by the gin, John Deere has implemented the Harvest Identification. The system gets rid of the manual module – tagging method, provides easy - to – retrieve and store documentation and improves the way of tracking and delivery of the modules to the gin.
Harvest Identification has already been used with the John Deere 7760 Self-Propelled Cotton Picker, equipped with a Green StarTM 2 2600 or GreenStar TM 3 2630 Display and RFID tags embedded in the round module wrap. The system documents module information relevant to the ginning process, including the client, farm, field, module serial number, harvest date and time: all collected in a one document. Cotton, the implemented system, reads the RFID serial numbers that are embedded in the module wrap and then transfers the information to the Application Controller 1120. The device collects the information and at the same time displays the module count and the serial number, storing the information simultaneously as a .txt file within the File Server on the display. Has the information been collected, it can be pulled off the display via data card or USB drive and then sent to the cotton gin.
The above solution gives the growers the ability to harvest cotton uninterrupted, without the necessity to tag modules manually. Growers who have tried the system so far say that it helps them to save time and simplifies the record keeping and tracking of modules.
