Grains Prices Tumble on Improved Forecast Outlooks


The U.S. corn and soybean price ratings have recently gone up owing to the favorable weather outlooks. Specialists noticed that the predicted corn prices fell nearly 6% and those of soybean by 2% as the forecast for the second half of this month indicated cooler temperatures and heavy rains in key growing regions. However, less-threatening weather, complemented with swift plantings and some higher ratings for the U.S. crops, made the investor’s bullish bets on soy and corn futures less appealing.
Soy and grain prices had rocketed for the past weeks, which is probably the result of the forecasts for the spell of dry weather. The expectations for dry, hot weather have been balanced by the predictions concerning the next week, with cooler temperature and some rain. It is surely going to be beneficial for corn and soybeans. The encouraging start to the growing season does not give the clear-cut answer where the crops ratings are going to be in two months, but the investors have to respect that potential.

John Deere Power Systems Putting Forth The Naming Convention



John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) has recently announced both the naming convention and the power ratings for the company’s Final Tier 4/Stage IV mobile off-highway diesel engine line-up.
Referring to previous tier terminology, John Deere Final Tier 4/Stage IV engine names will commence with the PowerTech™ brand and then add a three - letter suffix in order to specify the engine’s technology package. In case of Final Tier 4/Stage IV engine, the three letters are supposed to identify the mechanism’s technology platform, the turbocharger and aftertreatment. The exemplary name of John Deere Final Tier4/Stage IV engine would be PowerTech PSS 6.8L.
 
All John Deere Final Tier 4/Stage IV engines with power ratings 56 kW (75hp) and these have been designated “P” which indicates the Tier 3/Stage III A Power Plus technology platform, featuring 4-valve cylinder heads, full – authority electronic controls, cooled exhaust gas recirculation and air-to-air aftercooling. These engines utilize a variable geometry turbocharger, series turbochargers or a waste turbocharger ( designated “V”, “S” and “W” respectively). The afterteatment technology for engines 56 kW (75 hp) involves the exhaust filter and selective catalytic reduction, which gives the combination designated “S”.

Brand New John Deere K-Series Backhoe Enters the Market

It has been announced by John Deere’s spokesperson that the company introduces its K-Series Backhoe Loaders, the eight durable and efficient models (including 310K EP, 310K, 310SK, 310SK TC, 315SK, 410K, 410K TC, 710K) that contribute to the success of the renowned J-Series. The tractor loader models (210K EP, 210K) add up to the value of the K-Series and provide some further jobsite versatility.
Louann Hausner, the product marketing manager for backhoe loaders, John Deere Construction &Forestry says that the company’s customers constitute a diverse group, using backhoe loaders and tractors for a great number of tasks on the jobsite. According to Hausner, the new K-Series provides North American customers with a wide range of options that are both powerful and economical.

The new K-Series corresponds with the contemporary emission regulations. The vehicles are powered by a certified IT4/Stage III B John Deere PowerTech ™ engine and they are equipped with a five-speed transmission, allowing them to reach the speed of 25 mph on the road. There has also been a complete redesign of the cab ventilation, directing the airflow where the operator needs it the most.

New, clear potential that is going to improve OSR weed control

A new herbicide technology aimed at controlling weeds in oilseed rape is now accessible for all the growers in the UK. It offers the increased flexibility, especially in case of broad-leaved weeds charlock and runch.
Yet, the herbicide tolerant, conventionally bred “Clearfield” oilseed rape varieties, come with a stewardship warning concerning broad-leaved crops. Hutchinsons, the advisory company has been trialling the new technology nationwide to observe how the varieties react in different situations, especially on farms where growing oilseed rape has been prohibited due to the grave problems with charlock and runch. The company’s spokesperson says that the technology proved very effective, however the stewardship is the key for managing the volunteers in subsequent crops.
The spokesperson continues, that when there is a crop requiring the ANL herbicide, such as Debut (triflusulfuron) on sugar beet, potatoes or any other crops, then oilseed rape volunteers will be resistant to it.
According to the Hutchinsons’ the best crop is the first wheat, in case of which there are wider range of herbicide options to take out the volunteer oilseed rape.

John Deere Implements the Harvest Identification

In order to help cotton growers capture, store and retrieve information about their crop for use by the gin, John Deere has implemented the Harvest Identification. The system gets rid of the manual module – tagging method, provides easy - to – retrieve and store documentation and improves the way of tracking and delivery of the modules to the gin.
Harvest Identification has already been used with the John Deere 7760 Self-Propelled Cotton Picker, equipped with a Green StarTM 2 2600 or GreenStar TM 3 2630 Display and RFID tags embedded in the round module wrap. The system documents module information relevant to the ginning process, including the client, farm, field, module serial number, harvest date and time: all collected in a one document. Cotton, the implemented system, reads the RFID serial numbers that are embedded in the module wrap and then transfers the information to the Application Controller 1120. The device collects the information and at the same time displays the module count and the serial number, storing the information simultaneously as a .txt file within the File Server on the display. Has the information been collected, it can be pulled off the display via data card or USB drive and then sent to the cotton gin.
The above solution gives the growers the ability to harvest cotton uninterrupted, without the necessity to tag modules manually. Growers who have tried the system so far say that it helps them to save time and simplifies the record keeping and tracking of modules.

Salt – resistant rice under tests

Hot news coming straight from London: scientists are doing some lab tests on the salt-resisting rice species. They came up with the idea right after giant tsunami wave hit paddy fields in Japan and left behind a salty sludge.

It is common for farmlands accumulating salt to have lower crop yields which may threaten food supply, as rice provides nourishment for the countless masses of people. The scientists claim that the method (called MutMap) is simple: they work with cultivars favored by farmers and already adapted to local conditions. Owing to the MutMap method new crop varieties can be developed in the nearest future, possibly within a year.
The new method is said to improve the rice productivity all over the world as much of the crop plantations tend to have a high level of salinity. MutMap method uses the speed at which sequencing can be done in order to screen plan mutants for valuable traits. The results are very promising and the plant scientists hope to be successful and their findings will serve to the benefit of the mankind.
